How to Prevent Scratches on Glasses

1. Store your Glasses Properly
   Of course, we love our glasses here so we always have them on, but if you must take them off the best way to assure you avoid scratching your glasses is to keep your glasses in the Felix Gray hard case they come in. If you don’t have a hard case or lose your case you can also store them in a microfiber bag.
   
   
2. Clean your Glasses Properly
   For everyday cleaning from dust or debris, use the specialized microfiber cloth that comes with your Felix Gray glasses. If you lose your specialized cloth you can also use another microfiber cloth.
   
   For deep cleaning, start by rinsing them off with lukewarm water. Then, using dishwashing liquid gently rub away debris from the lens or frame. Once you wash off your glasses with dish soap, you should use a dry microfiber cloth (like the one that comes with every pair of Felix Grays). 3. Handle your Glasses by the Temples
   When removing your glasses always handle them by the temples (sometimes called the arms). This will help you avoid adding additional dust and skin oils to your lenses. If you must place them down be sure not to place them lenses down. Like we said above, it’s best to keep them in the case they came in!

4 Ways to Remove Scratches From Glasses (non-Felix Gray glasses)

1. The Baking Soda Method
   Ask an expert how to remove scratches from glass and baking soda will likely be one of their first suggestions. Since this common kitchen ingredient has an abrasion rating of just 7 RDA, it’s often safe to use on lenses, since it will not wear away the surface of the glass.
   
   To get scratches out of glasses using this technique, simply combine baking soda with water until it forms a glue-like paste. Apply the paste to the glasses using a lint-free cloth and use a circular motion to rub it into the scrape. Continue buffing for 30 seconds or so, then wipe away the baking soda with a clean, damp cloth and allow the lenses to dry. Repeat the process if necessary.

   Vehicle wax products are also commonly used to remove scratches from glass. People often recommend trying Turtle Wax or Meguiar’s, since these brands have high reviews. Before applying the wax, it’s important to read up on how to get rid of scratches using this technique.
   
   Firstly, it’s important to ensure that all dust and residues are removed from the glasses before applying the wax, so be sure to buffer your glasses using a microfibre cleaning cloth. After you’re sure your glasses are clean, you can get started. Gently dab some of the vehicle wax onto the damaged area of your lenses and rub the wax in using circular motions.
   
   The deeper the scratch, the more times you may have to repeat this step. After buffing, use room temperature water to rinse away any wax and then dry the glasses using a clean, dry microfiber cloth. Repeat if necessary.
   
   
3. The toothpaste method
   This is one of the most-used methods of removing scratches from glasses—but it can potentially leave lenses more damaged than they were if not properly executed. The danger of using toothpaste for removing scratches from glass is that many brands have granules or microbeads in them, which can diminish the surface of the glass in your lenses.
   
   Thus, it’s essential to find a toothpaste that has a low RDA rating to ensure you do not further damage your glasses. People often recommend using Colgate Regular or Arm & Hammer Dental Care since these products do not contain granules or microbeads.
   
   Once you’ve found a suitable toothpaste, the steps are very similar to the steps listed above for baking soda. Use a microfiber cloth to softly dab toothpaste onto the lens, then buffer using circular motions. Rinse the area using a clean, damp cloth and let dry. Repeat the process if necessary.
   
   
4. The Glass Etching Method
