About Us

Our Founder Story

Felix Gray was founded in 2016 with a simple but powerful purpose: to help people live happier, healthier lives in a screen-filled world. As screens became unavoidable, so did the eye strain, trouble focusing, headaches, and sleep disruptions that came with them. We set out to solve that.

Our team developed a proprietary lens technology in collaboration with top universities and leading ophthalmologists, grounded in science and backed by studies. What started as the ideal office companion quickly became something bigger: a tool for modern life.

Today, Felix Gray is led by industry powerhouses Anouk Willemen and Liz Condon. Under their leadership, the brand vision evolved to recognize that screens and LED light are no longer tied to a desk. They’re everywhere, shaping how we work, play, learn, recover, and rest.

From kids learning on tablets, to athletes whose sleep and recovery are disrupted by late-night scrolling and bright stadium lights, to anyone navigating long workdays on screens, or traveling through glowing airports, modern light exposure affects everyone’s wellbeing, sleep and performance.

Our mission is clear: to be the leading luxury blue light eyewear brand in the world. Elevating modern wellbeing, one pair of glasses at a time.

We’ve Done The Research

What is blue light?

Blue light is a color in the light spectrum that can be seen by human eyes. Blue Light sits at the top end of the visible light spectrum, right next to UV light.

It comes from the sun, especially early morning sunlight, but it’s also found in digital screens and LED lights. Too much blue light can strain your eyes, make it harder to fall asleep and/or stay asleep, and can even cause headaches.

Do blue light glasses actually work?

Glad you asked, because not all blue light glasses are made equal.

Digital screens and LED light emission peak at 455nm. This is important because other clear blue light glasses use a reflective coating to block light and this is only effective for wavelengths up to 430nm. Therefore they do not protect against all blue light coming off screens and LED lights!

Protecting at 455 nanometers in combination with the way we manage light makes us the only blue light glasses that have a measurable impact on sleep, focus and productivity.

We recreated the eye’s natural defense pigment against harmful light and made it more powerful. This proprietary solution is not a dye or a coating, it is embedded deep inside the lens making it durable and consistent.

Grounded in science, backed by studies, endorsed by doctors.

Does blue light disturb sleep?

Blue light regulates our circadian rhythm, or sleep-wake cycles.

We need exposure to blue light in the morning to boost focus and productivity. The absence of blue light in the evening is needed to signal our brain to release melatonin, our sleep hormone that allows us to fall asleep, and stay asleep.

So is blue light good or bad for you?

Both, depending on how much and when in the day you are exposed!

Healthy light habits:

  1. Catch 10 to 30 minutes of early morning sunlight to regulate your circadian rhythm and boost mood
  2. Avoid blue light exposure or wear Felix Gray glasses from 8pm to support melatonin regulation and better sleep.
  3. Wear Felix Gray glasses to reduce eye strain and maintain deep focus when spending 2+ hours on digital screens or in bright indoor spaces.
